迫于生活拮据的无奈，汤姆不情愿地投靠他疏远的父亲—柯克博士。柯克从事记忆转移技术的研究已经好一阵子，该技术有望能恢复阿兹海默症患者的失忆症状。先进的技术立意良善，却也为柯克招来杀身之祸，然而命案现场种种证据却显示汤姆就是凶手。为了还原真相，汤姆不惜冒著生命危险，将自己的记忆植入他人脑中，成为另一个自己。
